Turn One Push 3 Preset Into Thousands of Sounds With This Hidden Feature

The best sounds happen when you stop overthinking and just let chaos guide you. Yes, it’s that easy.

Last week, I spent an entire morning hitting the randomize button on my Push 3 Standalone, turning 8 presets from my new Melodic Movement sound pack into something completely wild. What started as a simple exploration turned into one of the most fun studio sessions I've had in months.

How It Works
The workflow is beautifully simple: Load any preset on your Push 3, hit the randomize button, and watch all 16 macros shuffle to completely new values. Suddenly, that melodic arp becomes an aggressive bass lead. That lush pad transforms into something cinematic and dark. The sounds you'd never program yourself? They just appear, as you can see here in the video:

The Bonus Move
Here's where it gets even better: When you find a variation you love, you can save it as a new snapshot. Hit the plus icon on your Push 3, and that sound is now permanently part of your preset, saved as a so called “snapshot” Keep going, and you're building your own custom library inside the presets you already own.

Want to save the entire preset with all snapshots to your user library? Hold the Save button and press the instrument rack. Done. Your new preset lives in the same folder as the original.

Why This Matters
This workflow removes overthinking from sound design. You're not staring at parameters wondering what to tweak. You're exploring, reacting, and discovering happy accidents. It's the difference between programming sounds and playing with them.

Keep it fun and stay creative,
Miles
